Job description
Superior Silica Sands is now hiring a Project Manager.

As the Project Manager you will:
• Coordinate the planning and execution of approved special projects.
• Work closely with the mechanical maintenance team of the site and other departments of the division.
• Ensure the delivery of the service will align with good maintenance, installation, and commissioning practices.
• Ensure the goals and objectives are achieved, with respect to Superior Silica Sand culture, Health and Safety, and Code of Conduct.
Education requirements
• High school diploma, university degree, or equivalent.
Experience requirements
• 5+ years of project managing experience.
• Experience in welding and fabrication.
Qualifications
• Must understand the type and quality of materials being produced.
• Familiar with MSHA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
• Ensure that the critical component(s) are on site before commissioning of any project.
• Verify the adequate procedure(s) to follow before acting. Apply and get the employees to apply the adequate procedure(s). Do a follow up with the employees to ensure they follow the procedure(s). Review the content of the procedure(s) to ensure its accuracy.
• Evaluate work order requests with the Operations Manager. Organize the weekly jobs to execute according to the weekly, monthly schedule. Do a follow up on parts required and advise of any changes required.
• Advise the Operations Manager of any budget issues, ideas when observed. Coach employees regarding the importance of respecting the budget. Apply the budget in everyday job. Do a follow-up with immediate employees to ensure the respect of the budget. Apply the required KPIs for own position. Do a follow-up on own and immediate employee’s KPIs to ensure they are respected and applied.
• Coach employees regarding the importance of applying the budget. Apply the cost control in everyday job. Do a follow up with immediate employees to ensure the respect of the costs.
• Plan and organize safety meetings and pre-job briefs. Conceive the content and format of the meeting. Facilitate the meeting. Do a follow-up with the employees on the questions that were brought from previous meetings.
• Ensure Jobs Kits are made ready for the project. Participate in shutdown planning and assists in supervision of any shut down maintenance projects.
• Do a follow-up with immediate employees and/or contractors to ensure the quality of their work.
• Analyze the points to be brought to the meeting (Agenda) before and or after any projects. Plan and organize the meeting. Animate the meeting. Do a follow up with the employees on the questions that were brought from previous meetings. Advise the Operations Manager on the training needs for own and immediate employees when observed. Participate to the required training. Do a follow-up on own training and immediate employees training to ensure it is followed.
• Verify the time entered on the work cards by the employees and contractors. Apply the time entry in upkeep or equivalent software.
• Ensure and follow up with vendors and any on-site contractors to make sure they deliver on their scope within the project.

Skills
• Ability to use various electric and air powered hand, welding, and cutting tools as needed.
• Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
• Ability climb stairs/ladders up to 100 ft., stand for long periods of time, and occasionally work at heights greater than 3 feet.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to repetitively stand, walk, bend, stretch, reach over shoulder height, and frequently lift heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain.
